"Adventures In Freeland"
Video in RealVideo® and MPEG-1 Formats

Young Freeman Graves, desirous of creating a short video feature in commemoration of his Grandmother's birthday, enlisted the aid of several individuals and after untold hours of diligent effort has produced a work of epic proportions entitled Adventures In Freeland. The video is presented here in its entirety, with a running time of just over five minutes. We think that you'll enjoy it!

Happy Birthday Grandmother ! ! !

**  Pseudo-Streaming HTTP mode multimedia file:

The RealNetworks™ RealPlayer® or RealPlayer Plus™ is required in order to play this file. If you don't already have a copy of one of these products installed on your system, you may download RealPlayer for free individual use from http://www.real.com/realplayer.html. Get RealPlayer Free.

Both of these players work with Microsoft® Internet Explorer 3.0 and better, Netscape Navigator™ 3.0 and better, and any browser capable of launching an external helper application (this includes virtually all current browsers).

The bandwidth required in order to properly stream this clip is 34 kbps, so you'll need a "56k modem" (V.90, K56Flex, or x2 protocol) or faster connection.

If your browser supports the RealVideo Netscape plug-in (Content-Type audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin), or Microsoft ActiveX control, just click on the Play button Play button. within the embedded Player below to see the file. For browsers which don't support controls or plug-ins, or if the control or plug-in is not installed, use the text link to launch the external Player program (Content-Type audio/x-pn-realaudio).

**  Non-streaming downloadable multimedia file:

As an alternate file format, we've also provided a low bit rate (576 kbps), small frame size (176 x 144 pixels), low frame rate (23.976 fps) MPEG-1 System Stream (ISO/IEC 11172-1) file (Content-Type video/mpeg). The MPG file is 23,033,949 bytes in size. Why should you download a 20-plus megabyte file, especially if you don't have a high-speed cable modem, xDSL, T-1, or better connection? Because both the audio and video quality of the MPEG file are significantly greater than that of the RealVideo file above. Also, by taking the time to download this file, you'll have a copy on your system for future use. You can play it every day! Freeman would like that. (And so would I, after all the hours I spent creating and uploading the thing!!) Download time is about one hour on a typical "56k modem" connection.

Use this link to download freeland.mpg.

To download and save the MPG file:  If you are browsing this Web page using Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) or Netscape Navigator (NN) simply right-click (Windows) or Control-click or click-and-hold (Macintosh) on the link above and in the small pop-up context menu window that appears choose "Save Target As..." (MSIE) or "Save Link As..." (NN). This will bring up the file save dialog box wherein you can specify the filename and location on your local hard disk where you want to save a copy of the file. Be sure to save it with an extension of '.mpg' or '.mpeg', whichever is appropriate for your operating system.

Epilogue from an appreciative Gramcracker:

Thank you, Freeman, and your loving cousin, Tiffany Winkler, your chief co-conspirator in creating this delightful video! Thanks also to Doug George for your camera work, and for the help of the whole crew.

In this video, viewers are given the opportunity to witness an adorable, mildly Autistic, happy 6-year old in action. Freeman is essentially non-verbal, but as you can see, he communicates his joy expressively!

He is quite an athlete, and much to the worriment of all, he is totally fearless: he loves to jump.

Among his many accomplishments, he can recite the alphabet and count to 10 plus, but only when he's in the mood. He loves Disney movies and sings the lyrics and melodies from some of his favorite Disney songs.

Freeman has just been accepted for placement in New York City Special Education classes which emphasize communication skills. On an experimental basis, he is currently taking the food supplement DMG, vitamin B6 and Magnesium, as recommended in the literature on Autism.

Freeman is presently living with his cousins and Gramcracker in New York. His parents and siblings who remain in Arizona are heartbroken to be away from him. He is adored and cherished by all.

Technical questions, problem reports, compliments (we like those), criticisms (like you could have done it better, sure), donations (especially appreciated), and other electrons should go to the Webmeister.
